What is Veterinary Physiotherapy?

Veterinary Physiotherapy involves the clinical assessment and treatment of animals by a qualified vet physio. Treatment may include manual techniques such as massage, stretching, range of motion, joint mobilisations, myofascial and postural release, active exercises to name a handful of techniques available. Electrophysical agents such as pulsed elctromagnetic field therapy, laser, TENS and Photizo, may also be used to treat if appropriate.

Animals that may be presenting with signs of musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiorespiratory and / or biomechanical dysfunctions, such as lameness, can all be successfully treated by physiotherapeutic intervention.

As a vet physio, I aim to provide a holistic approach to animal health. This means not only treating the presenting condition through my own skill set, but considering factors such as home environment, diet, exercise and even other complementary therapies to promote overall health. #teamwork!
