What to expect from a session
A typical physiotherapy session for horses is around an hour and covers the following;
A thorough discussion of your horses history, health, current performance and any current performance issues or injuries. Any ridden or behavioural changes are all relevant for a good overview prior to treatment.
1. Discussion
A walk & trot up will be performed to assess movement and identify lameness. Followed by a hands on head to hoof musculoskeletal assessment including all joints, muscles, back & spinal health.
2. Assessment
Targeted physiotherapy treatment of assessment findings and pre-existing conditions with manual therapies and electrotherapy treatment where appropriate (Including Laser, PEMF, Ultrasound, TENS etc)
3. Treatment
4. Report
A full report detailing the session will be emailed to the owner within 24hours. This can also be sent to other members of the multidisciplinary team (Vets, farriers, saddlers etc) in the team approach to your horses health.
Home therapeutic exercises will be prescribed and individualised weekly progressive rehab plans (such as suspensory ligament rehab) can also be created for a fee.
